I am starting Humira but am unsure about
how it affects your immune system. I have 2 young children and work in a drug store so it would be very easy for me to get a cold etc. Looking for answers if anyone can help. I seem to be in remission right now thank god and wondering why my GI wants to start me on this. And one last point is this the final step before surgery.
thanks Len

if you are in remission, i wouldn't start it. it's goal is to get you in remission so your doc isn't making sense to me. humira is expensive and if not necessary the risks would be too high. im on it and work with pre-k and kindergarten. gotten every illness available this year. but that 's just me.

I would wonder why your Doctor is starting you on it also. I would definitely question this. If you are in remission, it just doesn't make sense to start Humira...Are you taking any other meds right now?

I agree, if you are in remission, then why are you starting Humira? You are at a higher risk of getting ill while on Humira and in the situation you are in, that may be tough to avoid.
