imuran and alcohol

 I know that alcohol is generally not something we should be drinking while having UC or being on meds for it either.  But, I've been having some unusual experiences with alcohol lately... I can have a couple of beers and just be drunk way too fast.  One time I tried drinking gin (which I've had a lot before) and ended up blacking out.  I swear it has something to do with my meds.  I didn't drink any more than I normally would, it just seems to kit me WAY HARDER AND WAY FASTER!  The only med I've added or increased is Imuran and I looked it up and it says there is no interaction with alcohol.  As you all know, just because it's not on the med info doesn't mean it doesn't happen to people.  Anyone out there have any similar experience?

I don't drink nearly as much as I use to but it does seem to effect me a little more than before. I am on Aziothiaprine 150mg daily. Now I usually drink about 1 drink nightly and sometimes 2-3. 3 has been my max lately just cause I don't want to over work my liver.

Aziothiaprine also made me really tired until I started taking it before bed. That seems to have help significantly.

 Yeah I take the Imuran before bed too.  It makes me SO tired!  I have to really make an effort sometimes just to get out of bed!  I just increased this week from 100mg to 125mg and I'm thinking that had a lot to do with my issue.  I'm glad at least one person has had my experience!  Thanks for the response! If anyone else has one... keep them coming!

My drinking escalated when I was diagnosed with UC. I found myself being felled by my medications, not only the UC drugs but the anti depressant/anxiety drugs I was on.
I had a problem...every doctor told me to stop drinking. I knew I should but I couldn't because I felt so bad I wanted to "self" medicate myself.

I put myself in AA and I am struggling. While these people know about drinking, they don't know about UC and how debilitating it can be. They don't know the frustration of not being able to function some days, the embarrassment of this disease
and the pain. I am hoping to find someone in the rooms with my same problem.

Stay away from the booze, it only hurts, it doesn't help.

I think Imuran affected my alcohol tolerance. In one way, I am more tired in general than I was before, so I do not want to drink as much b/c I want to get home and go to bed. I also think I do feel it more from drinking less. Just my personal opinions.
