Have any of you seen that commercial for those pads you stick to the bottom of your foot at night? Have anyone of you tried it? Looks very strange, but interesting.

It would be physically impossible to do what it states....but, there are always buyers for promises.

Bathing in a hot tub with epsome salts (lots of em) is suppose to pull the toxins from your body...it's also great for cuts, sore butts and other skin issues too...usually the sweating (reason why the water has to be as hot as you can handle) in conjunction with the salts is what helps with pulling the toxins from within...it's quite helpful for achey joints and other aches and pains too.

Salt shrinks tissue (gargles) and removes water from the skin...inflamed skin will feel less painful if it's not got the extra fluid caused by inflammation. it doesn't get into the "joints" via a soak....heat from a bath helps relax the muscles and relieves the pain.

They did a story, on Dateline NBC, about
those foot pads. They had a group of people try them and they had doctors evaluate them. The main outcome was that they DO NOT work and that it is a scam. The people that tried them said that they didn't feel any different and then the used pads were tested, there weren't any toxins on the pads. They said the reason that the pads turn black, after being on your feet all night, is probably because they put something on the pads that makes it turn black from heat.

I am ashamed to say that I have tried them......they don't work. I used them before the story on dateline. They were recommended to me by a naturopathic dr here....needless to say we don't waste our money on seeing him anymore either.

Epsom Salt actually has dozens of healthful benefits. Using Epsom Salt is a natural way to relax the nervous system, treat skin problems, and draw toxins from the body. The name Epsom Salt was originally given to Magnesium Sulfate Heptahydrate, named for the mineral waters found in Epsom England. People traveled long distances in the hope that they would be cured of their health conditions by applying the mineral waters. Today there are very few people who are not familiar with Epsom Salt and the healing benefits.
This long-time remedy has been useful for almost everything from aching limbs, back pain, healing cuts, muscle strain, colds and congestion, soreness from childbirth, and flushing toxins and heavy metals from the body. The magnesium sulfate of Epsom Salt acts as a muscle relaxant, and by easing muscle pain it helps the body to eliminate harmful substances.
Stress and Epson Salt, stress can drain magnesium, a natural stress reliever from the body. Magnesium is necessary for the body to bind adequate amounts of serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical within the brain that creates a feeling of calm and relaxation.
Soak aching, tired feet in a pan of water with half a cup of Epsom Salt, this will not only make your feet feel better, but they'll smell better too. Epsom Salt neutralize odor and soften skin. Also, soaking a splinter in Epsom Salt can release the splinter and help the area to heal.
Rubbing Epsom Salt directly on the body exfoliates skin and leaves it smooth and silky. You can add essential oils or mix with baby oil. Keep a mixture by the sink if you wash your hands a lot. The combination can help treat dry skin problems.

More than you'd think...I didn't mention that it's also great for lawn care, which I never knew until I read the carton.

i have heard that you can use tea bags to draw out stuff like that. I don't know if that is true or not though.

It's a total scam. If you simply pour distilled water on the pads they turn brown.
Here is ABC News' take on it: http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Stossel/Story?id=4636224&page=1

I must add from my search that it's stated the magnesium from soaking can get absorbed into the body via the skin and it's a "relaxant"...so I would think that's why one would feel less pain.
The only "toxins" it would take from the body are what would naturally be found in sweat or skin oils considering the skin is an effective filter...it would be impossible to draw anything from any other part of the body...that part's the scam.
The baths...my friend paid a naturopath to turn on the machine and let run for the required time....yep, it turned dark brown. Go figure.
