Great News about my test results

I got the results, well sort of.  My doctor is out of town until the 20th but I've been annoying the heck out of the doctors office to give me my results.  One of the nurses finally said it showed signs of IBD.  She didn't even know if I knew that yet, she said I'd have to wait to talk to doc.  Then I said they were looking for dysplasia they thought they saw before.  Then she said The report says that there are NO SIGNS OF DYSPLASIA.  tongue   yeah   :-)   I am so very relieved.  That made my day.......and then some..  Thanks to you all for your prayers, help and concern.  I feel like I have a whole new group of friends!  I only hope you all can have lots of good news too.  I do plan on going to the University of Chicago just for an overall 2nd opinion, to make sure I'm on the right page with meds, etc.  But I am in no hurry for that, probably August, I need a break from that right now.  Thanks again, Bellski

congrats on your great news!

I noticed you are from IL as am I and I teach Kdg.  Any suggestions on how to get a second opinion from a 'good' GI? Is there a number or website to call to get that info?

2boysmom, I plan to start looking into it on Monday. Do you live near Chicago? I live in the south suburbs. I think I will just do a little research on the doctors at Uiversity of Chicago (I've heard non-stop great things about them). Then I think I will just call the place and see if I can make an appointment. If that doesn't work, I'll call my family doctor and have him try to get me in. I have decent insurance so I hope it is easy. If you would like, I will keep in touch to tell you who I decided to see or how the process went. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Bellski

Terrific news! A big problem getting diagnosed with UC is access to accurate info. I hope you're now on the right track & can convince your relatives of that so they won't bug you unnecessarily. We did threads on that in the past: how people want to give hasty or random advice re digestive problems, often w/o even being asked for help or advice by the UCer. Have a great weekend! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I live 2 hours outside of Chicago in the cornfields. If you can keep me updated I would appreciate it.  I do have appt with a new general practioner soon and I am going to ask him the same thing.  Everyone around here says I have the best GI however there are only 2 to pick from.

2boysmom, I'll keep you posted. That's funny about there being only 2 to pick from. I don't know how sick you are, but two hours doesn't sound that bad to travel if you had to. (But the gas cost might kill you) lol..Good luck with your new general practitioner. Take Care! Bellski

Thanks guys. I am planning on getting a second opinion on my overall condition. I want to just go to Univ. of Chicago. I'll check that out tomorrow by calling. I may go to Mayo in the future. My husband is still a little freaked out about me being on medication forever. I didn't have a problem with it, but I get a little nervous because he worries so much about it. Thanks again for the well wishes, I am very relieved to have NO SIGNS OF DYSPASIA! Yea.
