I have had a wart on my knee burned off 3 times already - in the exact same location.  Other then burning it off repeatedly, is there another method that can get rid of this puppy???  It came back while I was on vacation.  It went from a small bump to a larger bump in a matter of days.  I'm tired of having this burned off, the scarring and I want it gone for good!  Can a doctor cut out a wart and make it stay gone? Or does it have to be frozen out in order to kill it?

My doctor recently told me to use the pharmacy paint-on wart killer stuff as it may take longer, but it often works better then burning them off.

My daughter had a different treatment from the dermotologist, I cant remember the details, but it worked. They had to test her first to see if she was allergic to the stuff. Ask the dermo. When my daughter gets home I'll see if she remembers more. It was a series of visits I think.

Sherry....they used to cut them out (I had 13 cut out and one burned off when I was a teenager).

The wart on my finger has survived 7 freezings from the dermatolgist....keeps coming back.

I've been using OTC freezing stuff and Duoplant. I do need to be more consistent with it, however.

You should still ask the dermatologist to consider to cut it out, regardless.

OR...duct tape it...you can draw happy faces on the tape.

I feel the frustration with you...

I thought about the duct tape but I would feel a bit silly. The wart is right on my the top of my kneecap and with it being summer and all - who wants to run around in shorts with a piece of duct tape stuck to them?? LOL I guess I could try all the multi colored ones - maybe coordinate them with my outfits huh? :)

I have used the otc freezing stuff too for my minor warts here or there, but this one has been burned 3 times already and my skin on my knee looks a bit thinner from it. I would be afraid of burning a whole thru the entire skin. So I am definately leaving this to the doc. I was just wondering if they actually do other things besides burning/freezing it off. I've never had to dealt with such a stubborn wart before!

Hey Sherry! Last time I was at the derm he literally rattled off no less than 10 treatments for getting rid of warts (besides freezing them). I opted for freezing (I'm an instant gratification girl!). But next time you see him I would definitely ask what your options are. When I was little I had one cut out of the bottom of my foot. Ow!

we use these in my department

salactol gel, Verrugone ointment and cuplex gel !! if you wanna look them up
And also Marigold extract for the natural way

You can just use the duct tape at night. I had lots of very stubborn plantar warts on my feet for years. I must have had them frozen off at least 5 times and they'd either keep coming back or wouldn't even die off after the freezing. I tried the duct tape with this acid ointment (can't remember exact name, but I will look when I get home). I had to put it on every night, then cover it with duct tape and sleep with it on. It didn't really work, but my warts were really bad. Then I tried these other things that I also had to put on every night and they finally worked after a long time and I haven't had any warts now for about 4 years! I will look at it when I get home and let you know what it was that worked.

Hey. Sorry, I forgot I would post on what helped me with my plantar warts. The thing that finally worked for me was something called Curad Mediplast. The active ingredient is 40% salicylic acid. They are these little medicated pads that you put on your warts (you have to cover it with something to make it stick...I used something called Elastoplast..it's an elastic adhesive bandage). I'd leave it on overnight, then wash it off and scrub the areas with a pumice stone. I remember having to do it for at least a few months before they were finally all gone, but it did work. Mine haven't come back, and it's been about 3 years now. Might be worth asking your doctor about it. I also tried this other less strong salicylic acid cream stuff and covered it with duct tape every night...it got rid of some of my smaller warts, but not the bigger ones. Good luck!
