REMICADE IN UK?????

Have read a lot of posts about remicade. Do you only get it in the US, never heard about it in the UK and my doctor has never mentioned it.

Remicade is available everywhere. Your NHS I think has a list of drugs they work with and my understanding is that it can be very difficult or impossible to get a drug not on the list. This is one of the ways they keep costs down.

I've never lived in the UK, so hopefully some of our British members will help clarify this for you. I could be completely wrong.

think its called infliximab here in the UK

they use it a lot where i go for my appointments, havent needed it so far though !!

The dermatologists where i work use Etanercept (which is used for posriatic arthropathy and very similar to infliximab) and i know they have to get permission from the primary care trust before prescribing it because it is so expensive.

ive looked it up in the British National Formulary

Its called infliximab or Remicade and produced by Schering-plough

Its costs the NHS £419.62 per 100mg.

I am in the UK, and I have been on Remicade in the past for my UC (On NHS), so yes it is available.

yes its definatly called infliximab here. Ive been on it for a year now and its great!!
