I can't figure out WHY I am flaring

Here's what happened; I went to MI for two weeks, while I was there I was practically in remission and I was eating grilled burgers and periogies with sour cream, even ate at a buffet!!  Now I have been home 3 days back to my safe diet and I have been sick the whole time.  The only differences I can think of are: more stress here and by my own tiolet, different water, and now I am in a smoke-free environment, there I was around chain smokers all the time.  Should I try the Nicotene patch or start ordering Culligan water? What do you guys think?  I was also in "remission" last time I was in Vegas and even a year and a half ago when I was in MI and my Mom passed away I was doing very well also I remember another time I was visiting MI I was in remission till I came back to Texas.  So weird.

Maybe you picked up a stomach bug...lot of it going around these days and unfortunately for us IBDers we never know if it's a bug or flair until a full week goes by...maybe give it 2 more days.

Sometimes it takes me a few days to a week or more for the behavior to translate into symptoms.  Also, the thing that makes me flare more than any other is when I get too tired.

yeah, happens with flaring...but it wasn't the food you ate..maybe you picked up something in the food or from hand to mouth...easy for us to be sure.

When was your last Humira shot (infusion?)? You're on the big-gun meds...it's not the food.

Can you use any rectal meds to maybe help get the rectal inflammation under some control? Can you use Canasa or maybe hydrocortisone foam enemas?

Taking a fibre supplement and probiotics might help you with some of the symptoms.

For me, my flares happen in the calm after the adrenaline storm, so to say.

Maybe you're allergic to Texas (?) Just jivin' ... to cheer you up. I'd say keep to a bland diet for a few days, avoid fries & spices, try to get enough rest-- so that hopefully your body will readjust to the pre-vacation routine. Best wishes! / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

maybe its the bland diet ???
go back to eatin all the yummy fun stuff and see what happens.
something to think about.

i saw a dietician for 4 months last year and went on all the safe diets, liquid diets.. you name it.
nothing helped and i tell you what... i feel better when i eat yummy food.

princess, I dont know if I would recommend a bland diet, but also wouldnt recommend complete greasy foods etc., moderation always being the key. Did you pick up some type of food poisoning at buffet? Whose to say, but if you had fever, etc., that may be the case. I believe we are more succeptable to infections because of our general weakend immune system. Look for something to boost your immune system.

I have been to Spokane WA, for 3 days and just because of the water i was sick. So think how much of the liquids did you have whial there? This includes canned sodas. A lot of people need to relize that canned sodas are canned with the same water near the city that you buy it from. Just a heads up. There could be many factors...
