Hello everyone,
I'm scd, new to the forum. I am game to share any experiences of my own that might be helpful or enlightening, and hope to gain from yours as well.
I'm currently in 'remission' from Crohn's disease after a surgery last June, but a year later am still having no luck controlling post-surgical diarrhea, which has really hampered my day-to-day living. (I am lucky to be working at home-- teaching online has been the best solution).
Unfortunately, a valve damming back excess water had to be removed during the surgery to excise some inflamed small intestine. I have had nearly constant diarrhea since. Neither Cholestyramine powder, nor Lonox taken in conjunction with Immodium AD have had any effect.
My doctor now suggests that "tincture of opium" (how 19th century is that!) might be the best course of action to try and calm down the intestinal movement, and therefore, slow the big "D."
I'm looking to hear from folk who have Crohn's (not IBS) who have surgical-related "D." Has anyone found relief with tincture of opium, or any other method/agent? Thanks! scd
