What stops bleeding the most?

All my symptoms seem to be going slowly but the bleeding doesn't. Some of it is hemmies and some bright red blood from the rectum / proctitis.

What is best to stop bleeding?

Steroids?

Suppositories? (I haven't started my mine yet)

Steroid Suppositories?
Remicade, Humira etc.

Diet?

Anything else?

Like everything else, it's individual. It depends on the areas affected and your individual response to each drug. For proctitis, rectal drugs are generally beneficial. There just isn't any cut-and-dried answer to this condition.

Thanks JUdilyn - I guess it's my proctitis I am worried about now as it has mucous and blood with every BM at the moment. No pain but just that. I am trying to gauge what on the whole works best for people.

I still turn to prednisone and Rowasa when it's really bad, but I bleed daily and don't worry about it if there is no urgency or pain.

Thanks Peety! I am worried though as it disturbs me seeing the blood. I am going to take 1000mg Asacol Suppositories starting Monday. God willing it will work.

When I'm bleeding, I always up my Canasa suppositories first (go to 2 a day), and hope for the best. If the bleeding continues, I start the prednisone. That has worked well for me so far.

I been on the Canasa supp for a few weeks...i really dont think its helping me as good as cort enemas did. The cort enemas really sucked administering but seemed to work well.

As a complement to medications, some other healing options to try are George's Always Active Aloe Vera, Mucosaheal, Fissureheal (for hemorrhoids), increased omega-3 to reduce inflammation, CoQ10, l-glutamine and n-acetyl glucosamine.

Will I notice a big difference when I start taking suppositories if the bleeding is located local to the rectum?

For the record, the name of the book is "Listen to Your Gut" by Jini Patel Thompson, but that's certainly not the only intestinal health book that references the healing supplements I've listed. Also, I've tried most of these personally and have found them to be effective.

I have the book too Princessa and she is great, I just happen to think a lot of it is a sales pitch for some of the products. For the record I have bought quite a bit of it, and will be buying the Natren Trinity in a few weeks.

Use the rectal meds since you have inflammation AND hemmies.

The products she's formulated are combinations of supplements you can buy individually, so you aren't required to purchase her products in order to get the benefits. None of these formulas existed when her first book came out. In fact, they were developed when readers requested them for convenience and to be able to order multiple supplements from one place.

Eight weeks of prednisone, lialda, and hydrocortizone enemas have finally stopped over five years of bleeding. Even when there were no other symptoms, the bleeding was a constant.

Have you tried this, mudua?  Do you make the solution yourself, and if what are the proportions?
