Hi All,
It's been a loong while since I've been here last. That's a good sign. Thank G-d, I've been feeling well and normal and almost forget that there's a hibernating monster with a mind of it's own in my gut. I'm reminded 2x daily when I take the meds.
Well, all's been quite on this front since I'd been diagnosed about 21 months ago. Until my Dr. decreased my daily Asacol dose to 6 a day, down from 8 a day, about 4 months ago. Well, a month later, the sleeping giant 'rear'ed its head and started its grumbling. With some Rowasa enemas for 2 weeks and then maxing out the Asacol dosage, to 12 a day, things quited down, literally. Things have been quiet for a month now. I hope to decrease soon and stay well and maintain equilibrium with this.
My hunch is that we decreased the Asacol too much for it to do its job.
On the side, I've never felt better since taking up walking/jogging/running at intervals. I'm still a beginner/intermediate, yet I feel great all around and feel more in shape and better physically for it. I'm human and fight the same battles as everyone else to eat right and muster the energy to work out. My efforts at trying to eat right and excersize right works sometimes, though fails at others. I find that it's all a process and it has a snowball effect. Excersizing makes me want to eat right and I get energized to eat right by thinking about how much I've put in towards my goal... I also found that drinking a significant amount of water a day REALLY clears out my digestive system, to the extent that if I DONT drink enough, boy, do I feel it.
I really want to thank all the moderators and people involved in this forum. I've gained alot of insight, support and comraderie from this community. I knew there was always a place to turn for advice, opinions, EXPERIENCE, support and humor. Especially since the dr.'s don't provide much of that stuff.
I'm quite busy with work and graduate school now, so I won't have time to check back here often.
Keep up the good work!
:)
