I hope everyone is doing well, I currently have one of those twenty four hour stomach bugs, on top of a flare of UC. Also, I have a question. It seems like the past few times I have had D, it has been a dark almost black color. What could cause this?

well my doc said that really black stools meant it was old blood from my upper intestine or even my stomach but i wouldn't worry about
it, do you have any pains in your gut?

Did you take pepto bismol? That will do it to you.
I hope you feel better soon!

If you continue to have black stools, I'd definitely call your GI and talk to him/her about
it. It could be something you ate or caused by medication but if you are worried, it's always reassuring to have your doc's advice about
it.

Another thing which causes black stools is iron. Are you taking iron supplements?

I read that if you take pepto bismol it will make it black.

Ah! The iron. It totally slipped my mind. Thank you all for your responses. And yes, I have been having really bad abdominal pain.
