Thanks guys! I thought so too- like I said, a lot of it most of us may already know, but it is very well-written & easy to read, not too much medical terminology. Plus I found the parts about what may cause UC interesting- breastfeeding???? I have never heard that. I breastfed my daughter for 27 months...a LONG time! And I was diagnosed just after her birth, so I'm intrigued. I also liked the pictures, very explanatory. And for those of us who feel that food plays a big role in UC, they address that belief also, without dismissing it.

Do you think they meant if you breastfeed your children or if you were breastfeed as a baby? "It says Such risk factors include diet, breast-feeding and other perinatal events, occupation and social class, oral contraceptive use, and, most impressively, the cessation of cigarette smoking." I took it to mean being breast feed as a baby since it says "breastfeeding and other perinatal events. " Hmm I didn't think of it that way..interesting I have never heard either way as a cause. Good article. Thanks. It would be interesting to see any other data on breastfeeding

I was interested in that oral contraceptive part.  I took the VERY strong pills - very first on market for 6 years back in the 1960's and then took hormone therapy for menapause for another 6 years in my 50's.  Wondering if they had anything to do with my having UC.  Very interesting.
