I went to Urgent Care a week ago with a swollen area under my chin. The swelling has gone down somewhat, but my chin itches - no rash. I do have an ugly spot on my lower face which I thought was a pimple, but I'm beginning think it is a bug bite of some sort - perhaps a spider bite. It is round, raised and has a deep scab in the middle. At the same time, I had some really nasty bug bites on my calf which have finally gone down. I had blood tests for Lyme's Disease which were negative. Any thoughts any one?

Could be I guess...what did they say at urgent care?
Was it oozing?
Are you male or female?
Could it be an ingrown hair?
A fistula from an abscess?

Urgent Care concentrated on the thyroid implications, but ultra-sound showed nothing. No oozing - I am female - ingrown hair not impossible - fistula possibly. I am not a medical person so you can't trust my take on things. I am now debating among going to a dermatologist, an ENT or an allergist. Will decide tomorrow and make appointment. Thanks.

Absolutely take it further...a dermatologist should be able to tell if it's surface or beyond.
You're not a hairdresser are you? Some have had a teeny hair stuck in the skin and then had an inflammation/lump.
Let us know the outcome.

Hello: my stepson thought he had a spider bite too. It turned out to be one of those nasty antibiotic-resistant infections and he was misdiagnosed. It came out on his shoulder initially, the doctor treated it with antibiotics but then it came back on his leg. At that point they realized what it was and gave him the right antibiotics (not sure what kind but very powerful). I'd get a second opinion...and see if they can culture it.

Thank you. I have to say I feel about
1000% better today than I have for a long time, but I will still follow up. Seeing a dermatologist is really hard there days. They're all doing tummy tucks and dermabrasion.
