Low fiber diet works best while flaring. I was advised by my nutritionist to sprinkle Red Mill GROUND flaxseed on top of my cereal in the mornings. Make sure it is ground to a powder, not any seeds. Rice krispies with soy milk works for me. That is my breakfast while in a flare.
Try to eat salmon, it does wonders for the gut. I purchase the fresh salmon and since my family turn their noses up on it, I can usually get three meals out of one pound of it for myself. I sprinkle Mrs Dash (no salt) table blend with a tad of olive oil and bake at 350 degrees for about half an hour or until done. For side dishes I usually have a small baked sweet potato and cooked carrrots sweetened with honey. I use Smart Balance on the potato..no butter.
Lunch usually consists of some tuna or chicken soup, low salt. For snacks I eat either a few graham crackers with green tea or some no salt saltines.
Notice I am extremely careful with the salt intake as I have high blood pressure and the prednisone can really make the BP go up. I take a water pill while on pred too with my BP meds.
