Hey everyone! I've gladly been in remission from my UC since March '06 and have continued to take Salofalk and 175mg of Imuran daily. I've been a little concerned with how I've felt while taking the Imuran however. I constantly feel like I have this brain fog where it's difficult for me to focus and feel alert. I take the Imuran at night time and wake up in the morning ALWAYS wanting more sleep despite getting 8 hours. I usually remain tired and dizzy throughout the day and get crazy dry mouth as well. I notice this especially a couple hours after I take my Imuran dose and feel like I have unquenchable thirst. Usually on days where I've missed a dose, I've noticed this has improved a little. I've told my docs about this but they just tell me how my blood work is perfect right across the board and that the usual side effects of Imuran have to do more with nausea and vomitting. I was just wondering if anyone else has been on a similar doseage of Imuran and has had to deal with similar side effects. Thanks a bunch!

When I took Imuran, I felt tired also. I could get 8 hours of sleep and still feel tired. I took it in the morning though; maybe it would have helped if I took it at night. I never got the dry mouth or dizziness though. Now that I'm off of it, I feel less tired. I got 7 hours of sleep yesterday and felt okay.

Ditto for me even when normal blood tests- fatigue and brain fog. It hasn't noticably affected my UC either, even at higher doses. The other side effect I'd get was occasional bursitis in the elbow and shoulders.

Hi there just like to say, I'm getting the same effects as you, I'm on 150mg a day, I also got fobbed off with the fact that my blood results were ok,and that all my symptoms were a result of the UC rather than the Imuran
which perhaps is true but dos'ent help much, I've also got a bit depressed,because I hav'ent had the energy to enjoy my chrildren like I used and this seems to be as go as it's going to get for me at the momment
Anyway hang in there,and don't give up hope that a better treatment may come along.

I've been taking 125mg of Imuran for over 3 years and the brain fog and fatigue in the morning are my biggest side effects too, as well as a horrible memory!  Imuran works perfectly for me so I'm more than happy to take it.

I have increased fatigue with Imuran (200 mg.) I just asked my GI today about it and he asked me if I were depressed. I don't think I am. He didn't seem to think it was the meds, but said to keep an eye on it. My bloodwork is always fine, too. But I can handle it; it is better than a flare.
