Peety,i see that you have gluton intolerance.I was diagnosed with UC in 2003 and last week was diagnosed with celiac disease as well.I am on Colazal now and am waiting to hear back from my doctor today or tomorrow to get started on a gluton free "lifestyle".Do you have any websites that would be helpful for me or any other suggestions.I have been looking through this web site to see if there are any people out there with both UC and Celiacs.I have lots of questions!
I simply google "gluten" and whatever food I'm wondering about, and some info comes up from different sites or message boards -- not very scientific! Most of the boards seemed to deal with people who were highly allergic, that's not me.
I didn't eat a lot of bread anyway, since lo-carb helps me control my weight. And there are gluten-free beers, yay! That was the greatest discovery. But restaurants don't have them, too bad. My grocery has a health-food section with gluten-free pasta and frozen bread (it's yucky), etc. and our community health food grocery (I live in a college town) has a binder listing what is gluten-free on every aisle. Amy's (rice) mac and cheese is delish, as are gluten-free cookies! Some of the large chain restaurants have gluten-free menus, I've checked some and it's been pretty obvious: no pasta and nothing breaded.
I lost a few pounds at first from not knowing what to eat besides fruit... then I discovered I could eat potato chips...
Congrats on knowing, you'll feel much better now, I certainly did!! Start a new thread, it would be interesting since I haven't seen one in a while.
