All went well, except for the waiting. It was about an hour longer than I had expected. That part aggravated hubby too. Probably because we were both HUNGRY and he had hoped to run an errand, but decided not to when they said I'd be in and out in a hour - not TWO. Oh well.

I got pictures! I decided to go for the good nap since I didn't sleep well last night. Instead of the Versed, they used Propofol. What's the difference? The Propofol is not as long lasting and usually doesn't have the nauseated after effects that Versed does.

I go for my follow up in two weeks. I will double up my Culturelle until then to make up for lost bugs in the prep.

Cecum: normal
Terminal Ileum: normal
Ascending colon: colitis
Transverse colon: colitis
Descending colon: erythema
Sigmoid: erythema
Rectum: erythema
Ano-Rectal verge: internal hemorrhoids

So, no major discoveries as to why I'm still having 3-5 bms per day on so many meds. Doc suggested adding 1/2 an Immodium to my daily pill count.

I got propofol during my last one as well. I think I liked it more than the versed! I felt fine after, not all groggy. Though I was really sore and crampy so I didn't feel up to going anywhere anyway.

You're lucky you got out in even two hours, I'm usually there for a the minimum of four hours every time. Hospitals around here are either extra busy or really sucky, I don't know.

Your comments were very interesting, DG. I never got nauseous (to-date) from Versed, but it did affect my head for a couple days afterward. I would set out to do something in a different room at home & then "forget" what it was that I wanted to do when I got there: very unpleasant! RE colon pix: healthy tissue should be pink-- except that the ileo-cecal valve normal is yellow-- this I found out from my gastro after last c-scope. If you have anything that looks red like raw hamburger, that's severe inflammation. I agree with you & hubby that having to wait long before procedure really sucks. It happened to me last time due to an incompetent (but entrenched) phlebotomist in the hospital's ambulatory unit. My gastro finally got disgusted & did my IV set-up alone in five minutes!!!!!!! Anyway, you DID it, hurray! Having it OVER is really a big deal. No more prep for a good while. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I got pic's from my last one too on one sheet of paper, sounds the same. If you want I can scan and send you mine in a pdf.

I got the propofol too and no problems.

So you are having 3-5 bm's a day w/no other symptoms? If so my theory would be that maybe your body needs to get used to going less and it will adjust itself in a few more months? Just throwing that thought out there.

I'm having mild symptoms. That just not right feeling in my gut. Some minor cramping. Urgency. The feeling of having to go right after I've gone. I've definitely delt with worse, but I WANT remission again! I WANT to feel well.

Yes, I think it's going to take more time. Unfortunately, I think the scope prep has set me back a couple of weeks. I'm sure the stress happening right now isn't helping.

The areas labelled colitis were obvious. It didn't look like that healthy pink. It looked "puffy" and had lots of red spots. Any idea what those are? Tiny ulcers? The parts labelled erythema looked puffy as well. I was surprised that the right side looked worse than the left. The hemis looked awful.

As of today I am doubling the culturelle again - or whatever probiotic I'm taking. I think I'll start with 1/2 a dose of Fibercon again at night. Gosh I am sick of swallowing pills! Although as soon as I am done with this bottle of Asacol, I am going to try Lialda.

I think the red spots may be polyps. I had some and Dr. had them tested and all were fine.

Awesome! I have pictures from all of my colonoscopies, my docs have printed them right on the report. My new GI loved that!

Polyps? Hmmm... They looked really tiny in the pictures... Like little red dots all over... But I have no frame of reference. Anyone know how large in diameter an inflated colon is?

Inflated? Do you mean inflamed? :)
I wonder, too. It looks huge in the photos! So did the polyps, I had four significant ones, all benign. They were also huge in my photos! I wonder if the colon doesn't stay the same size, but just that the inside has smaller space from all the puffiness of the inflamation.

I always thought the erythema was the little red spots. Erythema is redness of the skin (or in this case, intestines) caused by capillary congestion... From previous times looking at my pictures, it was my understanding that the ulcers were the little bubble looking things, sometimes bleeding sometimes not, and then the rest of my colon would be a reddish color with red splotches everywhere and that was just from inflammation/erythema. I also noticed that my colon was completely smooth looking, it didn't have the haustra ridges and I have no noticeable veins in the intestine, which my doctor said I had a "loss of normal vascular patterns". I really wish I could scan my pictures!!! I will try to take a high quality photo of the photo when I get home and upload it. But it looked nothing like this:

I think when you can see the veins, that's good. I have lots of scar tissue, but some areas you could see veins, yay for small victories.

Hey, all-- I just remembered that PrincessColon posted a whole range of colon photos a while back. Anybody remember what she called it? (So as to locate it for comparison purposes-- she had displayed both normal sections & inflammation, polyps, etc.) / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])
