thickening of the colon wall

I just had a CT scan because of severe pain in my abdomen for a while.  My GI sent me a letter saying that the scan showed thickening of the left side colon wall, likely due to the colitis.  He said "likely"... what is another reason to have thickening of teh colon wall.  I see him on Nov 11 and he will do another colonoscopy soon after that, but I'm unsure what that means.  If anyone knows, please let me know!

inflammation basically. Your colon is inflamed thus showing up thicker on the ct. Its that simple.

I had this show up in a CT scan too. Doctor mentioned it but said it was no big deal. Typical of UC.

I had the same thing, but on the right side. My GP thought I had appendicitis, was sent to the ER and the CT showed the thickening.

Is it maybe scar tissue? I have been told the c-scope shows I have a lot of scar tissue.

same thing here, cat scan showed "slight thickening of the colon wall, due to UC". No doctor seemed too concerned about it- neither my primary care doc who ordered the scan, nor my GI, who was on vacation when I had the scan & saw the results upon his return. I don't know what else would cause that.
