My Gi wants me to give a stool sample to check for C Diff.....I have read many posts on here and done some research and it appears this is quite an infection that seems to show in tons of trips to the bathroom and serious D.  Some sites also says it smells really rancid.  Can anyone tell me what their c diff experience has been?  My GI wants to test me cause I am complaining about watery, cloudy fluid that comes out during the day with no stool....there is no color other than white cloudy fluid....it does not necessarily smell that bad either.  The weird thing is I have semi formed stool inthe morning....never go after 9 or so other than these episodes during the day and once in a while at night...yesterday I did not have a bowel movement at all....this morning 3...semi formed without pain...maybe a little urgency forst thing but nothing terrible....to me it's just watery mucus bombs from very low inflammation but I don't know......any thoughts would be appreciated....can there be another bacterial infection other than c diff causing this? again no blood as well.

I had contracted c-diff while being hospitalized for uc about 2 months ago. It is serious I had severe loss of blood with no solid bowl movements also really high fevers. The stool test will tell if you have it or not. They cured mine with liquid vanco 3 times a day but I still have to take a stool sample to make sure it does not come back so far nothing.

When I had c diff I felt awful; totally wiped out, stomach cramps and lots of diarrhea. I had been on antibiotics for a skin infection and the urgent care doc assured me the dose wouldn't affect my GI problems, well, at least the skin infection got better! In my opinion you don't have c diff, it seems like when you have it you know there is something really wrong, but maybe it's a mild case? It sounds like some inflammation, but what do I know..... I guess you'll know once you get it checked out. The antibiotic treatment for c diff (Flagyl/metronidazole) is simple enough, at least it was for me. Hope you are better soon. Keep us updated.

Just like we all have different symptoms with UC, we all have different symptoms with c.diff. I first got c. diff when I was 3 months preggo.  I was never on antibiotics so we have no idea how I got it.  I didn't feel sick, I had a lot of bleeding and D but I felt fine (even being 3 months preggo).  I still worked every day too.

I get c. diff about once a year now and my symptoms are never the "classic" ones, my doctor always thinks my symptoms are from UC but then I'll get tested and it comes back positive.  It's hard to tell the difference for me because the symptoms are so similar.

c-diff is short for a strand of bacteria. I believe. Bad bacteria. Need antibiotics to cure.
