OT - What are your plans for Halloween?

 

Since we're in an adult community, there are no trick or treaters here. We're going to a neighborhood Halloween party. Boo!

I actually went to a party last Saturday, I had soooo much fun. A friend and I got together beforehand and did our make up. It was really a two person job. He had latex pieces on to look like his eye was hanging out and his throat was cut and he had bones sticking out of his arm, and I looked like I had playing cards sticking out of me... See, I dressed up as Alice in Wonderland but a little on the dead side :D I was basically covered in blood and looked positively evil. It was fantastic. I even made a purse out of a stuffed white rabbit and tied a pocket watch chain around his neck as a "noose" which doubled as the purse strap. Then I hollowed him out and put my stuff in there. Everyone loved it. Too bad we got there too late because we got caught up with the makeup details so we missed the costume contest. They told us if we had made it earlier we totally would've won. Oh well. Everyone got a kick out of it. I'm hoping someone took good pictures because I didn't have my camera and I'd love to post some!

I live in a drop off neighborhood, everyone comes and I usually end up running out of candy around about a 1/2 hour before it ends. Last year we had over 200 pieces of candy.

I am going to a halloween party on Sat and am dressing up as Sarah Palin and my husband is dressing up as her pregnant daughter. I am going to make some button's that say things like, "Alaskans do it better", "Is that the north pole or are you just happy to see me".

I will also be making kitty litter cake, it looks so gross but tastes so good! I shape tootsie rolls into cat turds and put them on top of cake. I make the top of the cake look like kitty litter using food coloring on crumbled up cookies and I use a kitty liner in the bottom of the cake dish and put a pooper scooper in it.

Company dress up party and BBQ lunch then taking my 2yo trick-or-treating with her mother. I was lucky to find her the last pink princess dress at walmart her size. yay!
I wish I could hand out candy. that would be fun seeing all the costumes and little kiddos. I have a lot of neighborhood kids, 5 right next door, but everyone goes to the richer side of town or to trunk-or-treats at church parking lots.

Oh yeah i'm going to be a biker dude with skull tattoo sleeves and a long haired bandana with skulls.hehe.

GHOST HUNTERS - LIVE from Fort Delaware (Civil War POW camp) !! All night!! Sci Fi channel, it's a hoot, we watch every year.

Otherwise, we have no kids but we'll give out lots of candy.

Same as you Gigi.  Our neighbor girl may come over for treats so I have a little candy (the kind my husband likes LOL).  We are way out in the country so not many kids come anymore.  I decorate the house some and lights in the window - I always liked the ghosts and goblins!

I am not dressing up this year but I usually like to make all the costumes. For myself, I like to make costumes that are a play on words. One year I went as a "cereal killer". I took individual cereal boxes, stuck plastic knives in them, painted some red nail polish on them and pinned them to my clothes. Another year I was a "spelling bee". I dressed as a bee and pinned words all over.

My youngest son is dressed as a Beatle from Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. We bought a womens suit from the thrift store. I sewed on different trimmings to make it look similar to what the Beatles wore on the album cover. He added glasses and is carrying around the album cover today.

My oldest son is an auto mechanic. He hiked his pants up today, added a bowtie, nerdy glasses, and safety earmuffs. He looks like such a goof. He was going to walk in to work and act like nothing was different. Wish I could be there to see that!

Bratcat's high school sponsors Safe Halloween each year. They invite all the elementary school kids to trick or treat safely inside the school. Each club gives out candy and usually has something fun for the kids to do. She's dressed as a cat. It was a costume I made her when she was about 5 years old. Ears, wristlets, anklets, a tail and a bowtie.

Since it is a Friday, I expect we will have more kids trick or treating in our neighborhood than usual.

My plans for Halloween are to stay in bed at the hospital. This will be the first year I was unable to take my 6 year old daughter out trick or treating. My wife will have to do it this year and no one will be at home to give out candies to the kids.
