I am recovering from a flare and c-diff tapering on pred recently. I have been having solid bm's but still have frequent urgency with mucus like discharge in between. recently the discharge has had some light blood but the wierd thing is I do not have the blood with my BM. My Gi thinks I might have an area flared in the lowest part of my colon so he wants me to try canasa. I will be honest I am not looking forward to inserting these things. :( Has anyone had good results? I had a hard time holding in the mesalamine enemas for more than 10 minutes.

I was on Canasa on and off for a while. I never really had any problem holding them in because they are not a liquid which can cause cramping and that urge to expel. They seem to work very well for rectal inflammation but if your inflammation is higher then they won't help with that.

They seem to be working well for me. Using them at bedtime, I don't have any problem holding them in overnight. Sure, it's not a pleasant process, but it does seem to be worth it.

I use Canasa twice a day a.m. and p.m. I have a difficult time holding in the a.m. so I wait as long as I can to hopefully be done w/ our wonderful morning routines. I came down w/ UC when I quit smoking started flaring last May and I haven't had a day since that I felt "good". Since May I have never been back to normal as far as the way I use to feel.
