Hi all
Its been a bit over 2 months since my first op. I saw my surgeon yesterday and I had a couple of worries which he dispelled.
The first was that about 3 weeks after surgery, I started to pass a fluids probably 100ml 3-5 times a day. Then a week later 1 passed blood about every 5th time. Having been through the bloody diarrhoea, i was a bit worried. The GP said it was ok, but i still worried.
Also had incontinence, not all the time, but on nights when i was very tired and nights when i took sleeping pills. I guess when i had some deep sleep. My surgeon told me that this would probably improve in the medium term. The important thing being that there was no nerve damage. ie being able to have erections.
I had the rectal exam and leak test which was all over before i knew it, although a bit uncomfortable. After that he booked the date for the reversal, which will be mid Mar, so another 2 months with the bag.
Still feeling a bit tired but nowhere near as bad as pre-op. I am feeling better, but as it seemed to happen so gradually its hard to jump up and say I'm cured.
When i decided to have the first part of the op, I didn't for a second speculate on the pain which happened and even tho it got to a 7 out of 10, its all a distant memory now. Don't focus on the short term pain, focus on your long term return to health!
