Hi,

Are there any of you out there with colonic inertia?  I was diagnosed 5 years ago and treated...(somewhat).......then as time has gone by it has gotten worse..

Went to the gastroenterologist on Friday and he said my condition is getting bad enough that my colon is trying to stop working!!!! This is a little worrisome to me. Of course I am being scheduled for another colonoscopy. 

But, my question is...........what kind of treatments are other patients on with this conditon.??? Please email and let me know what you are doing and if it is helping.

You can meet others with colonic inertia on HealingWell's Ostomy board. This board is pretty much all ulcerative colitis, or the ocassional Crohn's patient. But th Ostomy board has several CI people.

Well, I think most people on here are dealing with the flip side of colonic inertia whereas we have diarrhea instead of constipation. I at times get constipation because of the Remicade, but I did have someone close to me that was dx'd with your same issue. He was taking too many laxatives, and therefore his colon slowed down; the docs labeled it "lazy colon." It forgot what it was supposed to do because the laxatives did the job for the colon. Good that you are getting a colonoscopy to find out what the heck is going on. And welcome to the forum! You might also want to check out the IBS and Crohns forum too. They may be able to help with some of your questions. Take care, and let us know how your colonoscopy comes out.
