EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just had to share my joy. I have had a wonderful two days. Christmas eve... only three BM's.  Today ( christmas day ) only two BM's.  ANd both days Had tons of people at my house. Eighteen yesterday, over ten today. And only one bathroom here.  Was a little nervous about this prospect, but I love to cook and knew this way I would have something to eat for my diet.  For my peace of mind I hid a folding porta pot in the basement cold room incase of emergency and someone was using the only bathroom.  I never had to use it.  And I ate BAD.  I ate all day the last two days.  I drank WAY to much heineken beer. I still followed my gluten free diet though ( except for one chrsitmas sugar cookie )  Even ate a little spicy buffalo dip. But mainly kept to my diet and had a great time with family and friends. Not sure what all to contribute this tooo.... Lack of stress cause of bein in my own home?  20 days on my gluten free diet? Or Day 4 of the spinach and sunflower seed diet ( this i believe is the main contributor ) I think maybe they all came into play. All I know is I am very grateful for this holiday seaon and hope this good luck continues.

I hope all of you had as good as holiday as I did. Even if it was just half as good then I now it was wonderful.. I know this post sounds girlie.... But after over a year I am just so happy and excited. Merry Christmas Everyone.

Don't worry about hickjackin a thread.... AM just happy some one else is also seeing some possible relief. Althouh after today for me who knows... I know in my happyness I ate and drank to much. Here I am sitting almost miserable with a bloated feeling gut. LOL. BUt I guess the enjoyment I've had the last two days after over a year is worth something. LOL. Hopefully this won't send me back pedaling.

It's great to hear when people are doing better. I too I'm happy, because my hope was to be in remission by X-Mas, and I am. No bleeding. No mucus. No pinkish, brownish stuff. No diarrhea. And I went poo only once today, which is usual for me when I'm not having a flareup.

Well I was right payin for my over indulgence today. Only had four Bm's this morning, but had cramps and urgency all afternoon. False alarms. Run to the bathroom and nothing. Oh well, am home now. TIme to get back into the swing and finish getting this into remission. although I haven't had blood in I don't know how long. Just lots of trips to bathroom, and I'd better ge there fast. Had it down to 2-3 a day before holidays.

Am assuming my problems are from over indulgence at the holidays, but doc did have me step down from 30 to 25 on xmas day so Its possible yesterdays "payment" could have been that. Not feelin so hot this morning either but it is early. We'll see how today goes.

That I didn't know. But I guess its a good thing that part of the holidays are over. I never do anything new years... to many drunks out driving. Safer to stay home that night. Amateur night. Am going to keep up with the spinach though cause I know it helped. I'll just have to build it back up. Thanks for the info. And once again thanks for sharing this with us.

What are you worried about oxalates for? Oxalates are only a problem in a very small percentage of people, and if they have plenty of magnesium in their diet oxalates are not a problem because magnesium dissolves the oxalate crystals that could possibly form in that small percentage of people. And besides that Im sure that all those medications some are on are doing way more dammage than some extra oxalates are doing.

Its not going to cancel out all the magnesium but any amount of alcohol will deplete some of your magnesium, the more you drink the more it will deplete of course so I would keep the drinking to a minimum. It not only depletes magnesium but it also destroys other nutrients such as the b-vitamins. People with UC need to hold on to all the nutrients they can.

Also a high percentage of the Oxalic acid in spinach binds with the calcium in the spinach and is not absorbed into the body. When the oxalic acid binds with the calcium they both pass through the digestive tract undisolved. Some people argue that that is the problem with oxalic acid is it binds with calcium in foods so your not getting the benefit of the calcium but new studies say that it only binds with the calcium in the foods that it is contained in. For example of you eat spinach and cheese its only going to bind with the calcium that is in the spinach.
