Hot Dogs??

Anyone experience any trouble eating hot dogs?  I know.... not the most tastey of the meats... But every once in a while I get a craving for a grilled hot dog with coney sauce.  Just wondered if any of ya all had experienced any trouble with them?  From what I can see on the package they are gluten free?  They would be low resistance I think.  Going to miss the bun though ( gluten ) LOL.  And while not the best protein they will be protein.

I never had troubles from eating hot dogs, but because they are processed (processed meats especially are about the worst thing you can put into your body) I stopped eating them along with all processed foods/beverages, fast-foods, animal fats and caffeine.

Likely not enough protein in comparison to the un-necessary garbage that it contains.

I have no trouble with hotdogs either other then them giving me headaches. But I am prone to headaches anyway. Uc wise, nah no reaction here.

I can't eat most hotdogs because they give me heartburn, but I buy the kosher hotdogs, Hebrew National, and I can eat them all day. They taste sooooo much better than regular beef hotdogs too, since they're kosher, you know the meat used is good and not the gross meat you wouldn't want to really ingest.The only ingredients in them are:
Beef, water, salt, 2% or less of spice, paprika, hydolyzed soy protein, garlic powder, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrate, flavorings.

     Personally, I am not that crazy over hot dogs.  Once in a blue moon I will eat one. 
They won't bother me while not flaring.  I wouldn't dare eat them while in a flare though.  The headaches are due to the nitrates in them.

Try organic beef, turkey or chicken franks... better cuts of meat and no chemicals or preservatives.

not saying I eat or I want them all the time... just every once in awhile they sound good. Like today. Think I'll try them for a quick dinner. Not really feeling like cookin tonight. Its a little warmer out.. time to fire up the grill and grill some weinies.. LOL. Glad to here they don't seem to bother anyone UC wise. ANd yes I buy the good ones. Like I said, its worth it whe ya only have them a few times a year.

And I would assume that you think because they come from a Kosher slaughterhouse, that the animals are treated humanely??  Because they are not.  Most are tortured and slaughtered alive.  Check out the Earthlings documentary.  But I have to warn you.  The footage is very graphic.  It is a docmentary about all the plight of animals.  From puppy mills, entertainment, fur trade, factory farms, slaughterhouses, etc and also just how animals are treated in other parts of the world.

Sorry..off topic, but I think the government is wrong in letting the public believe that 'Kosher" is good and humane.

Well you assume incorrectly. I never said anything about the animals being treated humanely- I just said the cut of beef they use is better than your average hotdog and they taste better. Personally I've never heard anyone say, government or otherwise, that kosher means humane. In fact if you look at the hebrew national website, they don't mention this anywhere, and simply say Kosher means "proper/fit to eat" in regards to certain strict dietary laws outlined in the Torah.

I've seen plenty of documentaries and I still eat meat. I would probably starve to death as a vegetarian because I think vegetables are gross. Sorry if that offends you, but it's what I like. Everyone can have their own beliefs about whatever they want, and I personally couldn't care less what they are as I have my own beliefs as well and don't like to bring them into discussion and force them down other peoples' throats. :)

I have experienced those cravings too once & awhile. I have found through the years when I get into my 'need a hot dog' bouts.....my stomach is HORRIBLE. I have a major flare!!! So is it the processed meat? Weird!!!! But Ironic!

Bouigiebaby.,.... But I am coming out of my flare.... am almost better.. I think. I hope. Just ben craving a hot dog.. actually a coney dog with onions and cheese. but for now.. I'll skip the onions. just go with a hot dog, mild coney sauce, and cheese. prob here in the next day or so..... will pick a day when Ihave been extra good on my diet.

Hot dogs don't bother me, although I also eat Hebrew National because they taste so much better. Now, the coney sauce might give me a problem if I was flaring.

Love them but they sure do give me heartburn. I always used the turkey dogs. If I really wanna die I just go ahead and go for the braWT. MMM.. hotdog with chili, slaw and mustard. No UC affects though I don't guess.

I never really had trouble with hot dogs, but they're not supposed to be good for me with nitrates and all. I crave them during the summer usually.

I don't like hotdogs. I don't think they taste good, and all I can taste is the salt. Bleh. But I keep noticing on these forums that people say they eat cheese...I can't eat melted cheese. It's like it's poison I always within a few hours end up in the bathroom. I'm not lactose intolerant and goat cheese doesn't do that to me, so I was just wondering... I miss pizza...

Sorry, a little off topic but didn't really want to start a thread just on how I can't eat cheese hehe

Mythmoon, yeah everyone is different on how they respond to food. All that is important is that you know what bothers you and what doesn't. For instance, I love love love Doritos and I can probably eat them all day but many on here can't so much as look at them without having to go to the bathroom! :) As for cheese, there are some that don't sit well with me but I find that I have little trouble to sharp cheddar, parmesan or swiss and I have a bit of an intolerance to most other cheeses.

Really, I don't like most cheeses, but I don't have much problem with cheddar (ie: grilled cheese, mac & cheese) or mozzarella (it's really the red sauce on pizza that gets me), and I love parmesan cheese. I don't really like any others though- I hate cheeseburgers, I hate having cheese on lunch meat sandwiches, I hate cheese cubes or cheese sticks or anything like that.

Hotdogs don't bother me, and they are so quick and filling and handy. I haven't eaten one with bread in so long, I forgot that people do! But I'd skip the onions, that's risky. As if eating a hot dog was good for you!

Oh, well, sounds like you and I have similar lifestyles, unclebubba.

Onions bother some people? That I think it the most annoying thing about this disease...nothing is the same for anybody. Makes trying to get better a pain.
