So i was watchign the drs just now, and there is a new pill it's called the phillips i pill. and it knows where to release the medicine.  they were talking about it more for crohns but that it could be used for UC too.  the pill somehow is programmed by the dr to release at a certain PH level that way the med only treats the place that needs treating and the body wont get as many side effects.  that's all i know about it, i didnt research it or anything thats just what was on tv

I read an article on this in the New York Times earlier this week. It's actually sort of a remote-control winding its way through your body, and it can send information back to your doctor's computer! It's only being used in research settings at the moment, if I remember right. I can't imagine it would be cheap.

its different than the remote control one, they said something about it too. This one has the meds in it and releases at a certain time, and then goes away. that remote control one comes out the other end, lol.

That's exactly how Asacol works. The coating is what is special about it, because it won't dissolve until it reaches the ph that is in your colon, instead of dissolving in your stomach. And you can suck on them and they won't dissolve, either.
So when it comes out whole...it means your colon is moving things through too quick for it!
