uc and hair loss

I was just wondering if uc causes hair loss? I'v had uc for 10months and my hair has thinned so much and it falls out alot.. am I over egzagerating about hair loss due to uc?

I had hair loss about 3 months after my first diagnosis which was by far the sickest I had ever been. My doctor said sometimes when you go through a serious trauma or illness you can have hair loss soon after, which is what we attributed it towards. It has not happened again.

Agree it's more the drugs than the disease itself. I had some hair loss with asacol, but extreme hair loss with 6mp. I also developed bald spots and I have extremely thick hair.

I have very fine hair. I seem to be losing a lot lately. I go through periods in which I lose more hair than usual. But my hair also just grew longer recently; so perhaps it just looks like I'm losing more hair. Or perhaps I'm losing more hair, because my hair is longer. It's hard to tell. Anyway, I just got over a flare not that long ago.

Hi, newbie here.

When I was on Pred the first time (15 years old), my hair grew like CRAZY. It's already thick and it got like, crazy thicker. Anyway, they tapered me off of it really fast, and my hair came out in wads. My stylist said I lost about 40%. The second time I went on Pred, I experienced hair loss, but not as much because hey tapered me off more slowly.

So I think it's more because of the meds than the disease. It's been five years and those are the only two instances I have had with hair loss.

If you are in a serious flare and are losing nutrition, you might be losing hair. This is what happened to me.
