Katie Couric's husband passed away from colon cancer in 1998. She's very active in the fight and does many PSAs on it.

Oprah is the one to have a show on it. People will take notice and listen if she does a show. Dr. Oz can talk all about it and have people in the audience who suffer from UC. What do we really want from this? For more people to be aware that there's a disease that people keep in secret because it involves poop. More research to find a cure. More studies. More compassion. I'm tired of people telling me to "just eat better" or "well then just stay away from the foods you're allergic to..." or anything else insensitive.

well...let's go! we can write to all of them! i didn't think of the doctors show. that may be a good one. i just know how popular Oprah is and thought her to be the best. and i agree. it should be about all IBD issues, maybe even autoimmune diseases. i'm in. let's get writing...maybe one everyday will wake someone up!? thanks for all the imput:)

Its really great to see all of us feel this way. And really if all of us wright to them at least almost everyday than they will have to do a show just to get us to shut up and leave them alone about it.

     The Doctors show did have a segment on IBD awhile ago.   Didn't state any info that I wasn't already aware of though.

Is there anyone famous who has come out to having UC? No one I am aware of. Sometimes that gets a disease more attention.

ok..i have my letter ready, but where should i post it on the oprah site? there isn't really any place to put a new suggetion, so i thought i'd add it to one they are already working on. which one do you all suggest?

I've been working on my letter, but its almost impossible to get it under 2000 characters. Isn't that ridiculous? Its hard to explain this disease and what it does to your life without getting very wordy. I'm getting there, though!
