lialda-when is best time of day?

Hi-

To all those taking lialda--when during the day do you take it and do you have a meal first? later? My doc says 1st thing in the morning with my orange juice but I am thinking it upsets my stomach"? Also--what is the difference between lialda and pentasa since both of thier active ingredient is mesalamine??

Do any of you also take dyclomine?(sp?)  I take this ( 2 pills of 10mg)as soon as my feet hit the floor in the morning due to nausia then. I appreciate any answers as I try to get this under control. I am better than when I was first diagnosed but still have urgency issues espcially when traveling.

I take 2 in the morning after brackfast and 2 before night time

My GI said that it doesn't really matter when I take it during the day. As long as it's around the same time every day and it's a time I remember the best...take it. So I've been taking it at dinner time... I just remember it easier, plus it's hard for me to want to eat in the morning...

I take 4 of them first thing in the morning. ANd I rarely eat breakfast anymore. SO I take them with all my other meds and on an empty stomach. With alot of water. I can't say they have ever upset my stomach. I normally get up around 7. Lunch is normally early though, 10:30 or 11:00.

I take mine first thing in the morning. I usually try to take them after eating a small breakfast bar, but haven't had any problems occasionally taking it on an empty stomach. To answer your other question the only difference between Lialda and Pentasa is the shell. Lialda has the reddish brown MMX coating which protects the medicine until it reaches the colin. Pentasa comes in a capsule that does the same thing.

I asked my doctor the same thing after we tried Colazal (which gave me even worse D). He said he usually tries Colazal first because it's cheaper for most people.

I take 4 Mezavant (same as Lialda) in the morning. No problems regarding upset stomach but recently taken off Mezanvant because of side effects (extreme anxiety,chest pains,stomach pains etc). Anybody else experiencing side effects with this drug? I had to go back on mezavant because uc symptoms returned within a week.
