Hi all. I haven't been on regularly lately. Life keeps taking me for a ride!

I had my annual "lady" physical last week. I told the doc (gyn) about my awful menstrual cramps and he thinks it could be endometriosis based on a few things - the fact that I'm already on the pill, that the cramps are mainly around my period, and the UC-autoimmune factor. My doc said that if I wanted they could to the laparoscopy to see for sure - but says if I can just deal with it every three months by taking tylenol, etc to do that.

Do any of you other ladies have this?

The main problem I have is that the cramps are way down low, so it's really hard to tell if they are bowel cramps or other cramps.

I don't have it but I often wonder. I've been on the pill for a long time and just recently I've been getting really bad cramps which are not in the norm for me. I know what you mean about not being able to tell what's period cramps and what is colon cramps! I'll run to the bathroom thinking I'm going to be REALLY sick and I get there and its like ohhhh yeah!

I'm always paranoid about it. I've always had horrible cramps, and now I'm having nausea and vomiting during my period. BC pills haven't helped and it triggered my last flare. During my last "lady visit," they said everything looked normal, but I still wonder...

I also have debilitating cramps. They were unreal until I went on the pill. I used to throw up and pass out from the pain for several hours. It was horrible. The only thing that controlled them was Ortho try-cyclen low. All other pills caused a flare up, this was the only one that was safe for me. Now I still get cramps but not as bad.

oh yes...endo person here. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago when undergoing infertility treatments. Looking back now I think a lot of the beginning UC symptoms were now blamed on the endo. It wasn't until the mucus and blood started that we knew it wasn't the endo. They say endometriosis is immune system related to so could all this stuff really be related to a quirky immune system??

Between UC and endo there are few few symptom free days. Good luck to you!

Back in 2007 before my endo ablation, my GYN did the laproscopic look-see to rule out endo in me. Luckily I don't have endo but man oh man can I totally relate to those painful cramps. If you think Uc cramps are bad, these menstrual cramps I was experiencing made a Uc cramp seem like nothing! I have a friend recently diagnosed with endo and she is still learning how to cope with it while another friend who has had it for many years goes thru hades each month.  But they don't have Uc - well my first friend has IBS.  She says the cramps from the endo is more painful then the IBS cramping.

A little off topic, but how is your new furbaby doing?

I had/have endo...had a total hysterectomy to deal with most of it...but there would still be some throughout that they didn't remove.
Never regretted it a day. Yes, I'm on an HRT patch.

I didn't do well on the Pill although I was on it for 5 years.
I would suggest you have the laparascope to check out what's actually going on. It was hell for me from first period...and to think I could hardly wait for it to happen. Ah the joys of it all....what's with the "have a happy period" commercial..yeesh!

Keep us posted as to the decision.

Oooooooooooooooowwww! Sorry to read that you have a new plague of cramps, DG. I was thinking that you didn't post as much lately because you've been busy enjoying remission. It ain't fair! mad  Wonder if you could read up on good gyno advice from somebody like Dr. Susan Love. Definitely keep us posted, but hope you'll get a handle on this soon. / Old Hat (nearly 30 yrs with left-sided UC ... [etc.])

I am also an endo girl. I have had 2 laps done and on monday I am having an endo biopsy. The endo is one of the reasons I am an IVF patient, that and male factor. Please email me at *** if you have any questions. There is a great book called the Endo Source Book.

Sometimes a doctor might put you on lupron depot for 3 months to help with the endo.

I have been enjoying life too - thank goodness. A lot of my time at home is taken up by our new furbaby. He's super cute, but to see pictures you'd hardly believe he isn't quite six months old! He's 55 pounds and bigger than our Kiss (11 year old GSP) - on track to be bigger than my Dexter (7 yr old GSP)! Scout and I have been doing obedience class and I feel I haven't been as good a student as I should be - I'm just to tired to do much training after work. But then again, training is a part of my dogs daily lives - they have to at least SIT for a treat ;-)

There is just so much going on and I am CONSTANTLY tired. One of the last things my GI threw at me was something about Gilbert's syndrome (sp?). I can't remember exactly what blood test was high, but he said not to worry as it wasn't THAT high. I keep wondering - why did he even say anything then? So I could freak out? I did look it up and of course I had most of the symptoms, but whatever! I think fatigue and many of the other things could be blamed on other things too.

Wakeboarding season is coming up soon too! I'll have to let something in life slide to make room for that fun :)

So, hopefully this endo thing doesn't bother me this summer! Although now that I'm aware of what it might be I will be able to monitor it better.
