In the beginning, when I was very sick, I completely quit a very stressful job that I feel contributed to my diagnosis. Since then, I've held three different jobs - the current one for the last five years - in which I purposefully looked for a more laid-back, less stressful atmosphere and little or no commute through the worst downtown traffic. I feel this has made a big difference.
I also got out of a bad marriage, spent some time learning to be single and happy with myself, then remarried a wonderful, supportive partner who fills my life with laughter and happiness.
I'm a firm believer in evaluating your home, work and spiritual life and making the changes necessary to live a happier, less stressful life with the love and support you need from friends, coworkers and family.
