I am so confused. I was first dx with UC then antibodies were positive for crohns. I have had a neg SBFT, neg CT. The only thing is continued stomach pain worse after eating and diarrhea up to 7x /day. My recent labs showed a slightly elevated CRP and elevated AST. The dr mentioned CRP is inflammatory marker but we can't find the inflammation. I haven't had a colonoscopy recently but wouldn't anything show up on the CT? I am tired of all of the tests if they are going to show up nothing. Could all of this just be IBS and the first dx of UC/Crohns be a mistake? Could someone have both IBS and IBD and if so, how do you tell which one it is since the symptoms are similar. How do I know when to go the the Dr.I feel stupid going to the Dr. if it is just IBS. For now just repeating the labs. Anyone can relate to this confusion? I am so frustrated. 

Currently on Colazol 3 tabs 3x.day and Aciphex once per day.

     IBS is Irritable Bowel Syndrome....IBD Inflammable Bowel Disease.  I had IBS for years but developed IBD ten years ago.  Don't feel stupid going to the doctor.  Your diarrhea is a symptom of something going on.  Not sure if it would show up on the CT scan or not.  When I was hospitalized in May the CT scan showed inflamation throughout the colon.  However, when they performed the colonoscopy about six days into my hospitalization, it showed UC in the rectum and NOT further up in the colon..go figure.  Your elevated sed rate does signify inflamation, but the question is where?  When did you have your last colonoscopy?

It's pretty much one or the other...I don't think there's a definitive blood test for either. You might have Crohn's Colitis.

I don't think that the CT would necessarily show the inflammation as would a c-scope. Inflammation can be in other parts of your body as well.

When was your last c-scope?

i had IBS through high school/college but was diagnosed with UC just last year.  My doctor said you can have both, however CT may not always find the culprit.  Your best bet is to have a colonoscopy done to be sure.  Don't feel stupid at all going to your doctor, your body is not behaving as it should and he is there to help :)

How were you DX if you haven't had a colonoscopy? One can have both IBS and an IBD (either CD or UC).
