What is an anti-inflammatory diet? I am still suffering today. I have such horid pain in my stomach. I scared to eat. I don't get it. I am on 75mgs of 6MP. Is that enough??
Hi WishfulMA,
An anti-inflammatory diet is basically eating/drinking plenty of anti-inflammatory foods/teas (the ones that your body isn't intolerant to) and avoiding any foods/beverages that are pro-inflammatory.
I eat mild curries, which contain turmeric--an extremely potent anti-inflammatory substance.
I drink a tea (Tension Tamer by Celestial Seasonings) that contains Chamomile, cinnamon, ginger, lemongrass, licorice, catnip, and Tilia. All of these ingredients are anti-inflammatory.
Other anti-inflammatory foods/ingredients:
Omega-3
salmon
soybeans, tofu, and soy milk
whole grain products (if not intolerant)
oatmeal
nuts
green leafy vegetables (e.g. spinach)
berries
garlic
Pro-inflammatory foods:
junk foods
fried foods
spicy foods (hence very mild curries as opposed to spicy curries)
high-fat meats
processed meats
sugars
dairy
eggs
Nightshades (tomatoes, white potatoes, bell peppers, chili, paprika, eggplant)
