I used my first Rowasa and now I'm bleeding alot during bowel movement has this happened to anybody

I was prescribed Rowasa enema, I did the first one on Wednesday night and every morning since then I have alot of blood during bowel movements.I think maybe I scratched or cut the inside of my colon with the enema tip,but I didnt feel any discomfort when I did the enema.Has this ever happended to anybody else I haven't done another one yet and, not going to its a weekend so I can't contact the Dr. Hopfully it gets better by Monday.I'm currently taking 100mg of purenithol,2400mg Asacol,35mg prednisone,1mg Folic Acid,20mgAcifex.

Have your bms slowed down a bit?

For some it can cause some more bleeding, but for some it may just be the bms a bit slower and the blood pooling.

Were you not bleeding before the Rowasa?

I was just starting to bleed alittle before rowassa I was put back on steroids and getting better.I think that I scratched the inside with the enema,because I feel like I have a cut.Otherwise if I had blood in my gut I get a burning abdominal pain then have to use the bathroom.

I suppose it is possible that you cut yourself but that isn't as likely to happen than say, the natural progression of your condition. I know sometimes when I use my enemas it is not comfortable at all because the tip isn't lubed enough-- very painful at times-- but it never caused bleeding for me. Plus, the tip isn't very long. At least my rowasa enemas aren't.

I hope everything works out for you-- I find rowasa is a God-sent drug!
