Hi there!  I no longer need my Asacol and I have about 3-4 weeks worth 1200mg bid (total of 6 a day).  Is there a place where this medication can be donated?  I really hate the thought of throwing it out b/c I know how expensive it can be for some people...as my co-pay was not cheap, it didn't break the bank.

I just feel this is such an important medication for many people...I'd like to donate it if I can...but that might classify me as a dealer, huh?   shocked   That's not the image I'm going for.

If I'm not mistaken, such a thing is not possible-- for the safety of the public, you can't give your meds to anyone else. Though your intentions may be perfectly nice and reasonable, it would take but one creep to donate something dangerous that would hurt someone.

However, who you give it to in private is your issue ;o)

This is governed by state law. There is a way in some states. Ask the local safety net ("free") clinic, they'll know.

Last week we put my oldest dog down (16 yrs four months, peaceful passing). I had just spent $133 on a two month supply of Rimadyl for his arthritis and we used maybe three days of it. I brought it to the vet and asked them to give it to someone who needed it for their dog and maybe had trouble affording it. The vet was most appreciative. But alas, it doesn't work that way for humans.

I gave my old UC drugs to a Crohn's patient I knew. He was on Medicare and had a cap on annual Rx drug purchases so my bounty helped him out.

Never throw away your old meds until they expire.... your never sure when you might need or want them again... I put my extras in a sealable tote in bottom floor of bathroom closet... Of course I have no children... so. But I know for a fact that I am glad I had been able to go to that tote and pull stuff back out. Has saved me some money with this DD.

LOL Unclebubba, she had surgery so she probably wont be needing them. Your comment just struck me as being funny because she had surgery.

LOL... guess I missed that point. Your right of course... I just know my GI has re-proscribed things twice on me. Things he tried in the beginning that didn't work... Now are working as I got better. Just glad I didn't have to buy some of these medicines twice.
