If there are any gastroenterologists with UC then that's the ideal Dr. for us. I bet he/she wouldn't say "oh just eat and drink whatever you want b/c once it gets to the colon it's all the same." And they would know first hand what we deal with. I'm just curious its not like i would go out of my way to see this Doctor unless they were in Texas.

Thats one big reason I dont like my dr. She dont know nothing. She says food shouldnt upset me the way it dose. that I should be able to eat what i like. She dont know what she is talking about
. Just think if there was a dr. that has this you would feel so much better about
talking to them about
it. And you would tell them things you might not tell your dr. now.

I am from the DFW area, in Collin County north of Dallas to be exactly. I have two GIs that share the same office and there are a total of 4 GIs in that office. One of them had his colon removed due to UC. They are the best GIs that I ever had and I have seen a lot of them. They would never say stuff like you quoted. Is yours that bad? Even if I was living in Wyoming or whatever, I would always go back to the GIs here in DFW I have now, honestly. They never usher or rush me out. Sometimes we sit together and discuss stuff for 45 minutes. So while I sometimes have to wait and my appointment is not on time, I know that someone else is sitting in there with them, having lots of questions and concerns that need discussing. So I don't mind that at all since I take the same freedom not to leave their office until everything is discussed and into the
open.
P. S. Don't want to be premature, but I already wish you a happy tornado and spring season LOL. Yeah, we are getting close to that time of the year LOL.

I'm in Florida but my GI has UC and it really is great! I almost jumped out of my chair with excitement when he shook my hand and said "from one person with IBD to another". He's been on all the same meds and gone through all the same problems so he really understands and never just dismisses anything I say. He's also the first doc to not just toss prednisone down my throat.
I would imagine there are quite a few GI's with IBD, if they had the disease and felt compelled to go in to the field and help other people. But there are still a few GI's without IBD out there who can be just as understanding and compassionate, it just takes some time to find the right one. Good luck!

When I was living in NC I have the best GI. I would sit and talk to her about
anything and she was so understanding. It was great. But now that I moved to Oregon I cant stand my GI. I really need to find a new one. I dont like him so much I just dont go.

Collin County is the county just to the north of Dallas county. Isn't Irving in Dallas county? Or is it Tarrant county?
Anyway, my GIs are in the city of Plano.

Irving is Dallas County... my GI I use right now is all the way in Fort Worth/Tarrant County where I used to live...and I LOOOOOVE her even though she doesn't have UC, but because she's an hour away it's just hard to stay. Her colleagues referred two GIs that are right next door to me, but I haven't seen them yet. I really think it would be cool to have GI's that understand the disease since they have it....what are your GI's names?

My GI doesn't have an IBD but my primary doctor's mother had Uc until she had an ileostomy. She is the best primary I have ever had and she know what works and what doesn't plus she is very understanding. I love her to pieces!

My GI doesn't have IBD - but the PA in office has Crohns. She's great! She totally understands what pain means, and how frustrating everything can be. I think she's a great asset to his office.
