Well, it's been 2 weeks tomorrow since I started the Entocort, and **fingers crossed** it seems to be working!! Along with the Cortenemas every night and 12 Pentasa a day that is. I feel so much better, I am not running to the bathroom as much, the cramps have gotten so much better and overall I feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope that this continues so that I can taper off the Entocort and then just use the enemas to maintain. It's amazing to remember what it feels like to have somewhat solid poops again!! =]

I noticed nobody responded to your post. Best of luck with getting better. A word of caution with the Entocort. Your doctor may have already told you this...

Osteoporosis: When taken by mouth, long-term use of budesonide may result in weakening of thebones, causing them to have an increased risk for fracture. If you have been taking this medication on a continuous basis, talk with your doctor about your particular risk for osteoporosis.

I am not saying this to freak you out, but I have osteoporosis from steriod use. I have only ever been on pred twice in my 17 years with UC, but I have taken Entocort enemas many many times. I highly suspect it caused my osteoporosis and I am 35 now.

If you haven't had a bone scan done I would ask your doctor for one so you at least have a baseline.

I forgot to mention that Entocort worked like magic for me. I imagine you will be feeling better very soon.

I'm curious if you were on Rowasa (or other 5-ASA enema) before trying the cortenemas?

Do you have pancolitis or limited UC? If limited..up to where?

Entocort has worked well for me, but my doc insists I taper off after a few weeks and then the symptoms just come right back.

I was not on any other enemas first, I started with the Cortenemas. I'm not sure how far up my colitis goes, I don't remember from my original dx 8 years ago...


Hopefully when I start to taper my symptoms won't come back. I have no problem continuing with the enemas to help maintain remission.
