I'm currently a student, I'm graduating in May with a B.A. in Biological Sciences. I also work part time at one of the school's dining halls (I go to a huge state university so there are like four of them. Mine's the best.) I worked with state mosquito control over the summer (part of it operates through my school) and am currently doing research in mosquito ecology.

I was applying to Ph.D programs but got rejected from two and haven't heard back from the other. I'm going to email the director Monday to see what's up. I want to get a Ph.D in infectious disease/pathogenic microbiology. I'm hoping that if I don't get into this last school, I can find a position doing lab tech work and apply again for admission for next fall. I have more of an idea of how to go about the process now so hopefully that will help.

After high school I went to college to get my BA in Criminal Justice and my certificate in Spanish. While there I did a 40 hour/week internship w/ probation and parole. Every summer I waitressed. After graduation I worked w/ gang kids in the community for a year. Then I moved w/ my husband and worked in a juvenile jail for 2 years, during which time I was diagnosed w/ crohns. After that I worked for a law firm as an intern/paralegal full time in the summers part time during the school year while I attended law school. I graduate in May and will be moving again to work as an attorney at a new firm in a new state!

I am majoring in criminology at the University of Toronto, on my way to law school at the moment!

A part time personal trainer and martial arts instructor! My studies and careers have been hurt by this disease but now things are getting back to normal... everything is getting better, day by day =)

Like Christine says - see if I can remember back that far.

Short story - business school out of high school.  Worked for architects for two years, met my husband at an Army base and traveled nearly 20 years to Japan, Germany, Colorado, Virginia, etc. - had two sons born in Germany and settled (after husband retired) here in Central NY.  Have not had a full time job since young. Worked in sub shop, babysat, receptions short time and now retired housewife.  When someone says "housewives never get to retire - I tell them "you have not seen my house"!!

I love reading about everyone!  Some very special, smart people have UC!  I like the company but not the disease!!

Malkavian-I've always wanted to be a infectious disease specialist! I don't think I want to go that far with my education though...

Scorpion-I know what you mean! It's so hard to keep up with everything when you're getting sick on and off. I had to drop some classes my sophomore year and right now I feel like I'm playing catch up from the flare I had in February. I had to take two weeks off of my job to keep from drowning in missing work. Also, I'm very lucky I didn't get any flares when I was working for CVB over the summer, the job involved a lot of driving in the middle of nowhere.

And it's nice feeling normal again =)

I have a bachelor's degree in nursing. I've worked at a major children's hospital, a preschool for children with disabilities, as a care coordinator for disabled children and adults, and finished my career as a program manager for a home-based parent education program. I loved my last job and was in it for ten years.

I went for early retirement in September, 2008 because my husband had retired and then had some health problems. I decided that since I was financially able to retire, we should spend some more time together. You never know what's going to happen.

Fortunately, we're both in good health now and having the time of our lives!
