Hope for the cure

In my opinion, the molecules Bacteria produces has something to do with our condition. If you consider an example such as Mycobacterium paratuberculosis, which is being studied as the possible cause for crohn's disease, then you might be surprised at how unique our condition is. The fact is that research is constantly being carried out to find the cause of Ulcerative Colitis and genetic susceptibility is something we have in common! I hope that one day we wake up and find out that researchers have found an antibiotic answer to our prayers so that we can start a new page in life!

I'm just interested in how many of you guys are as enthusiastic as I am when it comes to our condition, let's all hope for a cure someday soon

I pray for a cure or at least a cause is found every day...based on the intelligence and the technological advancements within medicine I'm almost positive that something will happen in at least my lifetime. 

Funny that you should mention M. paratuberculosis. I'm reading a journal article right now about possible environmental triggers. This article says that that research on M. paratuberculosis has been inconclusive so far.

On a slightly different note, does anyone watch Oprah? Earlier this week Dr. Oz said that we are "single digit years away" from using stem cell therapy. I hope that's true--it would help so many people!

Interesting they are talking about T-bet cells....

I had a tumor removed from my pituitary gland - my Prolactin levels were in the high 300's....normal males are supposed to be around 15 or so... My surgeon thought I had this tumor for a very long time....maybe longer than my UC... So I started reading into what high levels of Prolactin hormone can do to one's body....although I really don't understand what these articles are saying because they are in "doctor language"....

If someone here can understand the medical terms in this article, could you transcribe it and reply?

It mentions Prolactin levels and T-bet cells....I have been trying to see if my tumor could be linked to UC.... The video above talks about how T-bet cells could be related to UC....I am wondering how they could be related to Prolactin levels?

I'm skeptical they'll ever find a cure unfortunately.

I'm trying to hang on to my colon,for a bit longer in the hope there may be a cure its great your going to study
mumbles,have you seen the work they are doing at Trinty college dublin Ireland.
One thing that makes me doubt a bit is that everyone seems to response differently to meds and UC seems to be a collection of different causes symptoms and responses,under an umbrella name,so the complexity of it could be a problem,even if they could eventually grow us new colons like the woman with the windpipe I guess that would not be an answer either.
