Hello everyone, it has been a long time since I have posted on here...I have been meaning to ask this question for a while now but wasn't sure how to put it...Its a little wierd, but I know thats ok on this forum...I am 99% sure I am in a flare right now...Some mild cramping, terrible gas and lots of it :) , and spending lots of time on the toilet...I can't remember what this is called, but its when it feels like all your intestines are contracting almost to the point of throwing up...All this going on during a BM...This makes my eyes water and I get chills...Am I the only one that experiences this?? I try to explain it the best way I know how, but its hard...After I finally get off the toilet, for several hours afterwards I feel like something is pushing on my bladder...Is that even possible??? It only happens when I am going through what I just described...Are our intestines anywhere close to our bladder?? Can inflammation be so bad that it does push on the bladder?? I know this sounds wierd but it happens EVERY TIME!!! Hopefully this made some since...Thanks in advanced for your input...

Your rectum lies directly behind your bladder. If it is inflamed, it definitely can put pressure on your bladder. You may want to talk to your doctor about rectal medications to help heal the rectal area.

Thanks Judilyn, I thought I was crazy by thinking that...I just know it happens to me often...I actually do have rowasa that I used a while back...Haven't used them in a long time...Needless to say I am one of the "not so smart" ones that doesnt take meds on a regular basis like I should...I know I should, but if I forget to take it a day or so, then I think I am fine and then one day leads to two and so on...Oh and I get fussed at on a regular basis by my husband for not taking them...I do think I will use the rowasa now...Thanks again :)

Ahhh I know the exact feeling that you are talking about! Although Im still flaring, Im not as bad as I was a while ago and that feeling used to happen to me all the time! I would get the chills and my mouth would water and everything - not fun. I also got the pressure on the bladder feeling as well. When I spoke with my GI about it he said that because my intestine was so inflammed and swollen that it was pushing on my bladder therefore making it feel like I had a bladder infection when I actually didnt. Your not alone! I hope you can get things under control quickly... cause yeah, that feeling is not pleasant at all!

When I was flaring, I would get chills that would run up my back right when I got the urge to go.

I've had many times during severe flares where I had the chills (often with a slight fever) and lower back pain, which was enough to put me in tears every trip on the toilet...man, I sure don't miss those days.

Oh yeah....been there.

Do use the Rowasa asap and don't start to taper until you're back to normal.

Curious...what symptoms did you have about a week ago?....

Quincy, I have been noticing symptoms for a while now...Mainly terrible gas, some mild cramping, and the other symptom I described in the first post, however, that one not being every day, oh and definatley mucus (ohhh, I hate that word...LOL)...I have noticed minimal bleeding (just enough to say there is blood)...I usually eat what I want and there has only been a few things that I know doesn't settle well with me...But for the most part I don't have any food restrictions...I have got to get it in my head to keep taking my meds...I had shoulder surgery several months ago and was really focusing on getting that better and completely forgot about my other meds I take...Then I figured out I was doing fine without them...It had been about 8 months since I had taken the first UC med...Even when I thought I might be starting to flare I didn't take my meds because the next day I would feel fine...This disease is so unpredictable isn't it...One day fine, the next day I sit on the toilet for most of the day...I just don't get it ;)

We eventually learn the value of our meds.....you're clearly on a learning curve...use it wisely. Plus, use the Rowasa nightly.

You did have symptoms for a while now, and you should have started the enemas then....but, it's good you have started them.

Do taper them, find a maintenance. It sucks to use them, but worth it in the "end".

Keep us posted as to how you're doing.
