I asked them if they could do a partial show on all bowel disease, as so many suffer from it, yet most know so little about it.

Far as I know they have never even touched on this in a show yet.

If I get a response and they ever give me a date they will discuss it, I will be sure to post it here.

I guess I'm not familiar with that show. What network and what time is it on?

If they do a show, I'd probably volunteer to go on it! I don't mind talking about my condition.

Fruitgirl, they asked on my form if I would be willing to go on the show and I said no.

Here is a form you can fill out, and they would probably be thrilled to have someone on to discuss the disease.

My only worry is that they will touch on it and make light of it like most shows do. They talk about how it can be easily controlled with medications. As we all know, many people aren't treated that easily. The shows never seem to get to the nitty gritty of what having the disease really means.

Let us know if you get a response. It comes on in SE Michigan on ABC at 10:00 am.

I get them at 4:00pm on ABC. Dr. Phil and his son, Jay had a huge hand in getting this show started and Dr. Phil's son is the producer. I never miss it if I am home. I'd love to see them discuss it but I don't talk about my condition to others, so wouldn't want to be on the show either.

I have seen the show before too. It would be interesting to see how they would cover IBD.... I agree they would probably talk about what wonder cures are in our medicines that we all know don't always cure the symptoms!

I love that show. Hope they do a show on IBD. I did like how they had the pedi Dr. get a colonoscopy, they actually found a polyp.

Interesting; I've never heard of that show either, but I'll have to try and record it. Yesterday my husband's friend was talking about a movie "Along Came Polly" and how there was a part where the guy had an "accident." He was laughing and joking about it and I said to him, "Well, that was part of my daily life about 4 years ago. Many people live with that every day." He couldn't believe it. So, if making it more public, would it cause people to joke about it less or not? I can't decide.

I hate that show. Half the time they seem like they don't know what they're talking about. Are they even real doctors?

It would be nice to get more exposure on IBD though.

I've never heard of the show- I would no way go on tv about my UC though. The people that I wish to know about it, do already. The only "gripe" I may have, if you can call it that, is that so many people don't realize how debilitating it can be. Sure, you "look" healthy enough, but some days it's rough to get out of bed! Between the meds, the D, the constant bleeding- fatigue is a big thing for me. I cannot get enough sleep. And even if I went on tv & talked about it, I know the audience would be like "Sure, whatever....tell me about a real problem!"

I too have found some of their advice laughable, and on some important issues they often don't go into enough detail. I saw their show where they talked about people with absurdly smelly feet and how they can soak their feet in some specific tea and it "might" help aleviate the issue, rub extra virgine olive oil on your feet, that'll keep smelly feet at bay. And they also suggested sugar if you burn your tounge on hot food/beverage, EVOO again will not only soothe the burning but actually heal it and you won't get fricken tooth decay from it.

Just my opinion though...sometimes their info is okay but many times the show is stupid....Dr. Stork was one of the "Bachelors" from the past so I find that kinda tacky too.

If they can have a program about it and bring some attention to this disease, I don't care if they were on Pee Wee Hermans adventures.

It is so hard to have a proper balance between acknowledging the seriousness of the disease but not making it out to be a death sentence or worse than it is. I hope what I am trying to say comes across correctly and not that I don't think IBD is horrible - but, there are many people with the diseases that live fairly normal lives. And by normal I mean they work, have families, socialize, etc. I am fairly open with my crohns but I hate when someone thinks that means I will be in and out of the hospital, going for remicade infusions, having surgery, etc. For me, that goodness, it isn't that bad and I am more or less controlled with medication. There are a lot of times I am miserable but my point is, I still make a good employee. I would hate for a show to make a disease sound like everyone with it is on deaths door and then have people discriminate against those with the disease b/c they think they couldn't work hard.
