The lingering smell in the can could kill someone after you do your business.

You don't make it to the toilet.

I am quite familliar with the clench and run technique.

lol you know you have uc when...

you have the letters bmw on every page in your diary and you cant even drive,

when you have stashed a roll of toilet paper away for emergencies

when your asked out on a night on the tiles and your already picturing the bathroom tiles and mouldy nightclub toilets

when you want to be alone so you can pass wind in peace

when your toliet habits smell worse than your dad (and thats even without passing a stool)

You know you have UC

...when you're 22 and have had more rectal exams and colonoscopies than your average 50 year old.

...when you compulsively check your stools for blood and to see how formed they are.

...when your main concern for job seeking is health insurance and access to a bathroom.

...when you've actively debated in your head which was worse-buying baby wipes and having people think you're a teen mom, or dealing with the pain from all that chafing on your butt.

you know you have uc when you work on the railroad and toilet paper consists of a sock, your underwear or a shirt if you have 2 on....

passing gas is like playing russian roullette....you don't know if it is loaded or not...lol

Can I join the "fun"?
You know your child has UC (or Crohns) when...

you forget that family, friends, and acquaintances may get grossed out when you talk about your child's BMs (with all the details about blood, mucous, and other stuff) or perianal absess

you always ask "so what's it look like?" as your child comes out of the bathroom

you know more about the digestive system than you ever learned in school

you need a baseline colonoscopy because of your age and your child says "don't be a scaredy cat, it's not such a big deal"

I laughed so hard I nearly fell out of my chair. See I can laugh because I have experienced this.

You know you have UC when....people you haven't told you have this disease think you're just lazy or a troglodyte because you're too sick to leave to go somewhere.

If we didn't have a good sense of humor, we'd probably all be freaking miserable trying to deal with this. You have to make fun of it, otherwise it'll get you way too down.

You realize you have UC:

When you give yourself a courtesy flush...

You go enough to fill the toilet up twice in one seating.....

Your one seating lasts an hour and a half.....

Your hour and a half counts as two trips to the bathroom in your drug research diary.



LOL, You run to the toilet in a mad dash only to realize you got your headphones wrapped around your leg and still attached to the pc ripping the cord apart. Couple months ago.

Haha...never done that but I did once had baaad urgency whilst driving, I was about 2 mins from home, and by the time I got back to my house I needed to go sooo bad - I grabbed my stuff out of the car in such a hurry I dropped my brand new phone on the ground and cracked the screen...gutted!

Yea! ya know.. I do it all the time...and I catch myself thinking ONLY I would have that thought in my head like... where are the bathrooms? Omg I wouldn't make it!

I was watching something the other day where a couple people got stuck in an elevator for two hours.. I was just like...OMG THE EMBARASSMENT of pooping your pants in a closed space with people you know ...or people you dont... awful

you know you have uc when...

you tie your kids' shoes, trim their nails, comb their hair, unstick the stuck toys, all while parked on the toilet. The kids think nothing of this arrangement, since it's routine for them. Come to think of it, you don't think anything of it, either!

LOVE that one "tooth fairy"!! When my daughter was younger and I was in a flare, I kept a basket of her favorite toys in the bathroom. I'd put her down with her toys and hit the toilet. Before she could sit on her own, we always had a bounce seat in the bathroom.

So I guess mine is: "when your child has as many toys and entertaining things in the bathroom as in her room and thinks the bathroom is the second playroom in the house".
