Here's my advice-- turmeric pills are going to get you nowhere but a lighter wallet. All the studies I've seen for UC + curcumin involve high doses. Turmeric is very poorly absorbed, so my theory is that you can spend tons of money buying questionable formulations of it that are supposedly more absorbable, or you can just overcompensate by eating more of it in its (dirt cheap) powder form. I do the latter, two teaspons a day (one AM, one PM).
I just had a c-scope and the doc said he couldn't tell I've ever had UC. Two years ago, I was homebound for nearly a year because of a horrible flare. I credit turmeric with helping me the most, and I can't advocate strongly enough for it.
All that being said, turmeric is not for sensitive stomachs... I can't find it, but I remember reading that it might even cause stomach ulcers if taken in large quantities! So listen to your body and perhaps try taking it with some food to see if you can handle it better. There's gold in them hills! Hang in there.
