I have been on 40 mg of prednisone now for over a week. I am also using rowasa and hydrocortisone enemas (alternating every other night). I have seen progress in the amount of bowel movements I am having and the amount of blood in the morning, but later in the day all I am getting is very small amount of bloody mucus, no stool at all.

What is the best way to treat this bloody mucus? I am also having alot of left side pain :-/ how long should I hang in before I bug my doctor again

How long did he tell you?  My doctor usually gave me instructions for so many days and see what happens.  If it is not worse - them keep doing it.  I got worse symptoms and felt like I had the flu with most medications after about a week.  Prednisone worked in four days!  We are all different.

How long have you been on the enemas? I think another week should be sufficient to allow all the meds to do their "magic" and if by that time you are still having the bloody mucous then contact your doctor. Unless you get constipated WITH bloody mucous then contact him sooner because being constipated is, in my opinion, worse then having D.

call the GI and maybe he ll up your Lialda dose

thank you...i have been doing the enemas for about a week...

i think i have another week in me before i really give up.
