I have just been prescribed Methotrexate as I have been unable to tolerate other medications .  Wondering if any of you have tried this ,  I understand that it is simular to Immuran which I was unable to take.

I have to take 6 pills once a week,

Any advise or experiences

Suse, seeing as you don't have a reply from the UC members, you might like to click on the "new meds" link in my signature. It contains links to some excellent threads where the Crohn's members have provided some really useful advice on how to take methotrexate and deal with the side effects.

Just started mtx last monday, but I'm not on pills, I'm on weekly injections. I'l let you know how it goes. However DR says it will take 2-12 weeks for it to kick in....I love those types of time frames...such nonsense! I've received very few responses from people on here regarding this medication. It apparently is not used often for UC, but I've gone through the other typical treatment options and they either don't help or I can't tolerate them.
