Imuran and bruising

I am on 100mg / day of Imuran. Last weekend I raced my 4 wheeler and on the 1st lap I hit something that caused the handlebars to hit my right arm....at the time I didnt even really feel it. Since then, my arm - from my wrist to my elbow - has a massive section of bruise - purple, yellow, etc.... I normally have never bruised like this - I really didnt feel like I hit the bars that hard, and didnt even feel sore until that night....

Could this be from the imuran? I thought I read that it could cause bruising easier?

Yes, it can.

Imuran may reduce the number of clot-forming cells (platelets) in your blood. Avoid activities that may cause bruising or injury. Tell your doctor if you have unusual bruising or bleeding.

Yeah, definitely. I bruised horribly while I was on Imuran. I was unable to tolerate it at all, it made me terribly ill.

I talked to my GI about it today...he didnt seem concerned i.e. I don't have to stop racing... I can live with the bruising - gotta keep active and racing makes me forget that I have UC...

You have to keep up the thing that allows you to forget UC!!
I totaly agree with you!!
I am on Imuran and have not noticed any bruising yet... but it is early days for me!!
