I believe this to be true. I developed the boils and a pilonidal cyst last year after doing the rounds of prednisone from 60mg to zero and back a couple times. The cyst was lanced by a surgeon and surgery was schedule to basically dig it out. I was down for about
three weeks after the surgery. That was the first three weeks of January, now it gets sore in the late afternoon while sitting all day at my desk. For the first couple months I wish I would have just just dealt with it when it flared, but now that it has been removed I'm glad I had the surgery. I had the "closed" type of surgery which brings the risk of it coming back, but the healing time is greatly reduced compared to the "
open" method which could take months to heal. Being on about
10mg of prednisone the day of surgery we tried for the closed type to reduce healing time. So far so good. A good website for the pilonidal cyst is
