How often do you do blood test while taking 5-ASA

I was told by my GI that I should take regular blood test when I am taking 5-ASA.
But he did not tell me how often.
I think 5-ASA may has bad effect on our kidney?

Good luck , been off & on remissions for 25 yrs. Hope you can stay remission free. I'm on a probiotic from "gtnp" don't know how it will work. Have a good one...

What the ? to the above post? "Hope you stay remission free"? That's not a very nice thing to say!
And your whole post seems pretty random. I mean, it doesn't answer the OP's question.
Anyway, BigPanda, my GI said that yearly tests would be enough. 5-ASAs can be a bit hard on the kidneys, but my understanding is that it's pretty unlikely any problems will develop.

My dr said every 4 months so thats what i do they have always been ok.
