My M.D. switched me from colozal to Lialda with mesalamine suppository & I went right into remission. After 1 wk. I am noticing extremely dry lips & mouth. The back of my neck seems a lot stiffer than normal. Anybody had similar conditions? The remission is nice, but not used  to the other side effects. scool

some seem to have joint side effects, I've not had any worse than I ever did since being on 5ASA...

I get dry lips and mouth...usually if I've had a low fever or taken some antihistamines or used a lipstick I'm allergic to..

I have a stiff neck from tension, posture, laying on the couch, sitting too long at doing the same thing..etc. Can massage help?

How much Lialda are you on...and make sure you don't stop the supps abruptly..taper them to a lower dosage and use them every whatever night to maintain a remission.

I personally wouldn't suggest you start tapering quite yet..maybe after another week.
The reason is that low in the rectum inflammation can cause constipation or smaller stools, and some see that as a good thing.

Thanks for support, The M.D. has me on only one lialda 1.2GM tab a day & 2 a day on suppository. Thank Ill go to one suppository. Glad to see I'm not only one with dry lips & mouth. I've had UC since 1984,and been on & off of azulfidine, cortenima,rowasa, colozal,now lialda. First dry lips---- maybe it's an age thing. Started taking probiotic & multi vit. Are you drinking plenty of fluids? With having IBD we are more prone to getting dehydrated especially when D is involved....I've always done best with cortifoam out of all the rectal meds out there.

Probably need more H20 . This is the first side effect of this nature.
