Hi everyone,I just joined this forum,but i've read alot of other topics & learned alot the past few months.

 

Im in a flare right now,pretty badly.I have urgency,blood & D--- all the fun stuff :((

 

I have a question. I just went to the bathroom & i started sweating,my heart started racing, & when i got up from the toilet i was shaky & my vision had stars ..i had to go lay down. Now i have a headache.

 

Has anyone else ever gotten this?or similar? Its my first time & I'm so scarred. :(

Sounds like your blood pressure is a bit too low, and it dropped when you stood up...likely because of dehydration. Keep up on the fluids!

That happens to me a lot when I stand up from a chair I've been sitting on for too long, laying down, etc.

It's definitely a blood pressure drop.

It could be something else... Get up slower, try to relax, and drink water as said above.

Call your doctor if you are concerned. It has happened to me before but you should definitely advise your doctor and not less us diagnose it.

Drink drink drink you are most likely dehydrated . You might want to call you doctor. Feel better soon

This happened to me a few times when I was really sick. I just ran somewhere and layed down. Keep eating and drinking. And try not to stay in a hot bathtub too long.

As others have said, it's probably a blood pressure drop and you're probably dehydrated. When we have the D, we lose a lot of fluids and it's easy to become dehydrated! So - drink fluids. And it would be a good idea to call your doctor so he/she knows what's going on. I've always found that my doctor likes to know at the time rather than way after something has happened!

I agree... you are probably dehydrated and your electrolytes are probably off. Try drinking some gatorade.

Probably happened to many of us before. It has to me. I used to get in so much pain that I would just sweat buckets and dehydrate before the diarrhea would get going good. Have also gotten very shaky and seen stars. Take care of yourself and check in with your doctor to make sure you are ok, not anemic or too dehydrated.

It's probably because you're so scared and you're having pain. I've had this since I was 15 and I still get freaked out when I get sick. Sometimes when I sit on the toilet I anticipate so much pain that I freak out, my heart starts to race, which makes the pain worse, and I get shaky and cold sweats. It's scary to have something like this happen to you. You might want to ask your doc to prescribe you something in the valium family, and it will help with the anxiety of all of it. Good luck!

Thank you all so much for responding! It's prob because im not really eating too.i just get so nauseous & loose my appitite as soon as i see food.

Hi..welcome to the forum!

It's probably because you're not eating...even small amounts of a meal often times a day will keep your energy levels up at least.
That and enough fluids through various sources...not only water.

I can really relate to the feelings you describe. I don't do well with not eating for long periods of time. I got that often when I was flaring and lost so much weight. My blood pressure was OK, however....but I also developed anxiety attacks that might have played a role in some of the symptoms I was having. It was all very confusing and disconcerting.

When did you start the Asacol and the Rowasa nightly?

You should still contact your doc as suggested and get your blood levels (iron, sodium, potassium, wbc, rbc...) checked out as well as blood pressure. Don't wait.

The nausea can be helped through various ways as well...some choose to drink certain teas or through capsules such as ginger. I found eating helped my nausea...but I also was prescribed dicyclomine (antispasmodic) that helped too.

Do you have good support through family and friends?

Hang tough....it takes a while to get your flare under control...once that starts to improve, you should be able to eat with less problems.

YES, it happened to me. I was anemic and it caused my blood pressure to drop really low. That along with a extremely high heartrate. I was always out of breath and dizzy but also tired. Go get checked out!

Forgot to add....make sure you get your thyroid checked out as well!!
